Another pair of cashmere gloves

I just finished my third pair of cashmere gloves – green this time. My local yarn store didn’t have right beads with right colors at the moment, so they don’t look as outstanding as pink gloves, but I still like them so  much.

Unfortunately it was my last skein of cashmere yarn… Which doesn’t mean I won’t buy new amount :)
There is something I like about Lotus Yarns Pure Cashmere… It’s texture, colors, the way you feel while knitting something so luxurious.
If anyone knows a good place where to buy this yarn online, please let me know!

I know that most of you have summer in your mind (at least I do, it’s still cold and snowy in Estonia), but fashion designers are way ahead of this season and their fall-winter 2013-14 collections are published.

I bought some exclusive Lotus Yarns 100% cashmere some time ago, just to try if cashmere is really that good as some people are saying.
I knit this pair in two days, simply because I got addicted to this yarn! Seriously, if I had a lot of money, I would never buy anything else but cashmere. It is one of the softest things I have ever seen.
Fancy yarn needs fancy approach, so I used some high quality shiny beads and ribbon to decorate them.

Pattern I used is the same I use for my romantic fingerless gloves, only this time it seemed more appropriate to knit the gloves with fingers.

I´m so happy! I got woolmint.com working again :)

All the troubles started when I decided to move again from WordPress.com and create my own website with GoDaddy. With the help of my brother, I figured out how to do it, got the test mode of new site online and hoped to update is as soon as possible, for opening a brand new online store for my products.

The plan wasn´t bad at all, but what I forgot, was the expiration of my domain. I updated a day after it expired, but because of that, we lost all of our information on the servers :(

For several months I didn´t know how to solve this. Now I finally decided that Woolmint will stay as it were before and no changes will be made. Sadly all the blog posts written after August 2012 are missing. I did add some stories to woolmint.blogspot.com, but I don´t plan to copy them here, so Woolmint has a fresh start :)

I will be soon writing about everything that happened in between those dates, but until then, enjoy my latest knitting pattern – MADLI Fair Isle inspired mittens.

Some creative people have a lot of patience along with their talent. I don’t, and I admire those who can work for something glamorous for weeks, if not for months.

Like this wonderful crochet wedding dress! Unfortunately the seller doesn’t say how long it takes to make one of these, but I don’t believe it’s less than a month or two.
All motifs are crocheted separately and then combined with the grid.

Baby girl headbands coming for this fall

I’ve been experimenting with knit/crochet baby girl headbands and hats recently. I don’t know why girl stuff is so addictive to me… Maybe because I’ve been dreaming of a baby girl myself for a long time?

Anyway, headbands are knitted in cable pattern and they have a crocheted edge. I’d like to write a pattern for them, but I’m not very experienced in crocheting terms. If someone wants to help me with the crochet edge explaining (it’s no very hard, if you have crocheted before, then you probably understand the thing on the photo), then the help is highly appreciated!

 

Summer house makeover someday in the future

We had very stressing weekend. My partner has a birthday and we had to make 3 different parties to host all the guests.
So I went to our country house (on the photo) on Friday morning, because we haven’t been there very often before and it needed cleaning. A LOT of cleaning. Only washing a floor on this tiny room took me more than an hour.
My next plan is to make the place more comfortable. I probably will crochet linen natural white curtains to cover the windows. Some carpets and pictures won’t hurt too, right?

But I love the place, because this small house with 2 floors is situated right next to a lake and the closest neighbor is  kilometers away. So you can walk on the garden naked if you wish, and no one will see you. If I get an internet there, then I can stay for longer and work too, without any need to come to the city for a week or so.

Before I left I crocheted some hats. My cute next door girls are happily modelling for me, aren’t they gorgeous?
Two of the flowers attached to the hat are made of fabric or lace with hot glue gun.

I’m not a big fan of all those bear-owl-cat baby hats.

But this cat hat is cute in my opinion, because there isn’t too many details like eyes, nose and other stuff. Just the ears. Tiny-tiny ears.

Pattern is from Ravelry (free!) and although the designer says that the pattern is for newborn size, I used same number of stitches as pattern and it’s not a newborn at all. The hat is more suitable for 2-3 year old child, so be sure to check your gauge before knitting!

I used 100% merino wool and found just a perfect red button from our local yarn store. I’m definitely going to make more of these :)

Happy international “wear a dress day”!
I already showed my finished dresses and one is not ready yet, so I don’t have anything new except this knitted hat.

It is adult size, knitted from cashmere yarn. It was my first time to knit cashmere and if I had a lot of money, I wouldn’t use anything else in the future. I’m pretty sure I haven’t knitted something so soft before.

Pattern is my own and it will be published in next few days on Ravelry. Charts are already finished, I just have to convert it to PDF.

I’m still not done with new photos. Here’s another one from our last photo shoot.

I’ve knitted several tops like this before, this one is done from Titan Wool Egitto 100% cotton yarn.
What I love about it is so simple pattern that everyone can knit, even if they haven’t done cable knitting before. This is probably next design I’m going to publish on Ravelry.
Good news – a boutique in my home down is interested in selling my dresses. I’m just a bit worried about the price range, because handmade items aren’t very valued here. But I’ll see what they’re going to say about it and who knows, maybe it’s my first opportunity to show my work to local people.

In case if you’re wondering who are the models on my photos – meet the best neighbours in the world! Birgit (the blonde) and Siret (the other one who wear dresses) are always there if needed – no matter if it’s modelling for my knits, making cake to everyone or looking after my son when I’m away. We moved here just 6 months ago and I can’t imagine better place to live.
